CTO / Head of Development (m/f/d)

Location: Linz


We are looking for a CTO / Head of Development who can manage the department strategically, organizationally and operationally. You will provide leadership during a transformational period, updating our processes to the latest and best technologies and methodologies, and working closely with other departments to ensure we provide the best service to our customers.

Our projects range from e-commerce, marketplaces, platforms to corporate websites. You will work in a 25-person team of creatives, technicians, organizational talents and strategists.

Your role:

We want our CTO / Head of Development to challenge the status quo and be bold in adapting to new developments in technology and innovation. You want to drive change, help us transform, lead and grow a team of 9 developers. Ideally, you are an open and communicative person who can handle time pressure and stress well. They value good design and creativity as well as good software architecture and implementation. It’s important to you that our digital products are people-centric. You can work on a strategic level and make important decisions together with other departments. If required, you will also work hands-on operationally. You have full-stack experience, ideally with a focus on frontend. We are looking for someone who is well positioned in all areas of engineering. They love working with people and helping them along their professional journey.

Specifically, we are looking for a CTO / Head of Development (minimum 5 years of professional experience) with the following requirements:

  • Experience with Javascript or Typescript
  • Experience with React, Angular, Vue, or another major frontend framework
  • Good knowledge with SCSS or a similar styling system
  • Excellent knowledge in PHP7, HTML5 & database systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
  • Knowledge of Symfony or other similar frameworks
  • Experience in backend web application or API design and implementation
  • Experience with CMS systems (e.g. WordPress, Ibexa, Storyblock, Drupal …)
  • Knowledge of build tools and pipelines, package managers (Yarn, Webpack, Composer, Docker).
  • Experience in the use of version control systems (git)

Area of Responsibility:

  • Team management, employee feedbacks, 1on1s
  • Employee management and growth planning
  • Mentoring of new and existing employees in the area of front-end development and/or back-end development
  • Review and optimize development practices and processes in terms of teamwork, planning, efficiency, documentation, and quality
  • Validation and selection of the tech stack, tools, integrations and third-party services
  • Technical project management for complex projects
  • Coordination of the development team with account, design and quality assurance
  • Coordinate project estimates and schedules for the development team.
  • Training and attendance at conferences on technology scouting in consultation with management.

Depending on training and professional experience, a gross annual salary of80,000 and above can be expected.
