Following the example of poetry and science slams, the participants "battled" each other in a competition focused entirely on brand planning. Whoever earned the loudest applause was allowed to take home the Strategy Slam Award at the end. The form and means of presentation were completely optional, as long as it did not exceed 9 minutes.
With a lead of only 1 decibel, Ali Mahlodji of Watchado from Austria was able to hold his own against Dr. Reckhaus of Insect Respect from Switzerland and snatch the first Strategy Slam Award.
