The fear of large media groups of the superiority of Google gets new fodder: ZenithOptimedia presents the new ranking of the global top 30 by revenue. And lo and behold, Google continues to pull away at the top and is now 136 percent bigger than number two, which is, after all, Disney. Even if you added the revenues of number three - the U.S. group Comcast - the Mickey Mouse mother and the communications giant still couldn't compete with Google.
Encouragingly, the first German company is in sixth place with Bertelsmann. The Gütersloh-based company improved by three places compared with the previous year. Axel Springer ranks a distant 26th. The biggest leap, however, was probably made by Facebook - from 24th place (2014) to tenth.
Overall, ZenithOptimedia lists only three German media groups for the 2013 financial year - with ProSiebenSat.1 appearing in the top 30 worldwide for the first time. ZenithOptimedia has been presenting the global ranking since 2007. This year, the sales figures are not specifically mentioned.
