Dear Mr. Mustermann,

what would you think of the following news:

Our society is more educated than ever before.
Physical violence in German schools has decreased.
The crime rate in New York is down.

Do you think they want to tell you fairy tales?
Then you are wrong. And we are certainly not alone in this.
It is in our nature to make the world worse than it is, according to Matthias Horx, trend researcher and author of the book "Anleitung zum Zukunftsoptimismus - Warum die Welt nicht schlechter wird". Our glasses have been half-empty for a long time now; people crave negative news.

Find out where the hype about bad news comes from, what you can do about it and why the world is not as black as pessimistic prophets would have us believe ...
We have read the book for you and will be presenting it to you in this and the next Ad Talk issues.

Dear Mr. Mustermann,

In the last Ad Talk and the first part of our book presentation "Anleitung zum Zukunftsoptimismus" by Matthias Horx, we learned why our brains are addicted to the mood of crisis.
Today we want to look at the question of who the real beneficiaries of negativity are and why we keep fleeing into their arms.

Dear Mr. Mustermann,

In the second part of our book presentation "Guide to Future Optimism", we learned that, according to Matthias Horx, alarmism is a breeding ground for beneficiaries, in its political and media-staged forms more than unattractive.
But is it also dangerous? Doesn't the fear of mad cow disease lead us to think hard about our food productions? Don't hypochondriacs go to the doctor more often? Is alarmism "the power that always wants evil, yet always creates good"?

Horx removes this mask of innocence and exposes shadowy sides.

Dear Mr. Mustermann,

polluted air, parched landscapes, violent criminals jaded by first-person shooter games ...
In the fourth and final part of our book presentation "How to be optimistic about the future", you can find out why Matthias Horx believes our world does NOT have to look like this in the future and how to adopt a healthy, skeptical-realistic optimism.

Enjoy reading - and implementing.
