According to the Central Association of the German Advertising Industry, it is primarily the agencies that are looking for new professionals. By contrast, advertisers and the media were more cautious with their job postings in the 1st half of the year.

Analogous to the ZAW data, the unemployment figures of the Federal Employment Agency also show a minus: The rate fell by 5.3 percent in the advertising and marketing sector (June 2016).

However, demand for new content experts fell by half (minus 50 percent), according to ZAW. In contrast, demand for web and mobile developers more than doubled (up 136 percent). Mobile was the main driver here. The search for planners (up 138 percent), art directors (up 20 percent), copywriters (up 10 percent) and account managers (up 22 percent) also increased. In the field of advertising production, the demand for skilled workers has even tripled (plus 204 percent).

Job openings for media experts (-28 percent) and advertising specialists (-37 percent), on the other hand, were down significantly. Media job postings were down 39 percent; advertising companies, down 21 percent.

The ZAW expects the advertising industry to grow by around two percent in the current year.
