The German Design Award, one of the highest international awards.

The award ceremony for the German Design Award 2017 will once again take place on February 10, 2017 as part of Ambiente in Frankfurt am Main.

The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its goal: to discover, present and award unique design trends. Every year, therefore, top-class submissions from product and communication design are awarded prizes, all of which are groundbreaking in their own way on the international design landscape. Initiated in 2012, the German Design Award is one of the most recognized design competitions in the world and enjoys a high reputation far beyond professional circles.

The competition places the highest demands on the determination of its award winners: Through the unique nomination process, only those products and communication design services are invited to participate that demonstrably stand out for their design quality (Jury: GermanDesignAward_The-Jury (PDF - 136,99 kB))

In order to adequately reflect the diversity of our product and communications culture, the German Design Award is divided into the segments Excellent Product Design and Excellent Communications Design. These cover all areas of daily life. Gold, Winner and Special Mention awards will be presented in each of the competition categories.

The German Design Award is presented by the German Design Council, the German brand and design authority. His mission from the highest level: to represent the German design scene. Established as a foundation in 1953 on the initiative of the German Bundestag, it supports business in consistently achieving brand value through design. This makes the German Design Council one of the world's leading competence centers for communication and brand management in the field of design. In addition to business associations and institutions, the exclusive network of foundation members includes in particular the owners and brand managers of many well-known companies.

The German Design Award places the highest demands on the determination of its award winners: In an elaborate nomination process, expert panels of the German Design Council invite only those products and communication design services to participate in the competition that demonstrably stand out from the competition on account of their design quality.

All awards will be determined during a two-day judging session. Since its premiere in 2012, the German Design Award has grown considerably: back then, around 1,500 submissions were presented to the jury - this year there were over 4,000. 49% of them in Excellent Product Design, 38% in Excellent Communications Design. 758 entries came from abroad this year, including submissions from Reichl und Partner Werbeagentur, based in Vienna and Linz.
A total of 45 products/projects were awarded gold in the two areas.

"Our creative team did a really good job with all three submissions, from the idea to the implementation, which stood up to the tough German competition," said Rainer Reichl.

"Our thanks also go out to our customers for allowing us to do this creative work." Rainer Reichl, Managing Director of Reichl und Partner Werbeagentur.
