Now it is soon possible to be accessible under one or two digit domains in the www. Since last Monday, August 29th, almost 5.000 new domains are available and bring fresh wind into the domain market. The registry for .at domains has provided a three-phase sunrise system for this purpose.

"SUNRISE PHASE" (Phase 1): August 29 - September 23
At this stage, the claim to a domain can be registered.

Prerequisite for Participation:
-    Applicant is trademark owner,
-    whose trademark was already registered before July 1, 2015 and
-    is protected in Austria

How it works:
The application can be filed by the trademark owner himself as well as by a third party appointed by him (e.g. registrar, attorney, agency, ... etc).
The order of receipt is not relevant - the important thing is to submit the complete documents within the deadline.

What's the cost:
-    A processing fee is due upon application (from 100 Euro* )
-    If there is only one valid registration for a domain, it will be assigned to the applicant at a fixed price (from 120 Euro*).
-    In case of several valid registrations a closed auction will take place

Trademark owners should not miss the sunrise under any circumstances, otherwise another company could claim the domain.

PUBLIC ACTION (phase 2): from November 7.
From this day on, anyone can bid on all domains that are not registered.

How it works:
According to the principle of the best bidder,
-    for companies that have not registered a trademark, or
-    Abbreviations of companies with longer trademarks, which are not registered for trademark protection. Here the companies can then try to buy a short domain at auction.

What's the cost:
-    Minimum bid per domain from 60 Euro*

"GO LIVE" (Phase 3): December 6, 2016
With St. Nicholas Day, the domains still available then will be available for free sale according to the usual principle via registrars or directly, e.g. via nic.at. With this day, the one and two-digit domains already assigned in the phases before are then also accessible on the Internet.
