Now it is soon possible to be accessible under one or two digit domains in the www. Since last Monday, August 29th, almost 5.000 new domains are available and bring fresh wind into the domain market. The registry for .at domains has provided a three-phase sunrise system for this purpose.

"SUNRISE PHASE" (Phase 1): August 29 - September 23
During this phase, the claim to a domain can be registered.

Prerequisite for participation:
- Applicant is trademark owner,
- whose trademark was already registered before July 1, 2015 and
- is protected in Austria

How it works:
The application can be filed either by the trademark owner himself or by a third party commissioned by him (e.g. registrar, lawyer, agency, etc.).
The order of receipt is not relevant - the important thing is to submit the complete documents within the deadline.

What it costs:
- A processing fee is due upon application (from 100 euros*)
- If there is only one valid application for a domain, this is allocated to the applicant at a fixed price (from 120 euros*)
- If there are several valid applications, a closed auction is held

Trademark owners should not miss the sunrise under any circumstances, otherwise another company could claim the domain.

PUBLIC AUCTION (Phase 2): from November 7
From this day on, anyone can bid on all unregistered domains.

How it works:
According to the best bidder principle,
-    for companies that have not registered a trademark, or
-    Abbreviations of companies with longer trademarks, which are not registered for trademark protection. Here the companies can then try to buy a short domain at auction.

What does it cost:
- minimum bid per domain from 60 euros*

"GO LIVE" (Phase 3): December 6, 2016
On St. Nicholas Day, the domains still available will be available for free sale via registrars or directly via nic.at, for example. With this day, the one and two-digit domains already assigned in the phases before are then also accessible on the Internet.
