Wels, April 14, 2016 - General contractor TGW is building the intralogistics for Zalando's state-of-the-art distribution center in Lahr, Black Forest, with an investment volume of several million euros. The ordered Zalando goods are prepared for dispatch via a highly dynamic shuttle warehouse and a picking warehouse. More than nine kilometers of energy-efficient conveyor technology ultimately guide the packages to their destinations. Test operations will start as early as the end of 2016.

Georg Kirchmayr, President of TGW Logistics Group: "We are pleased that Zalando has chosen a TGW solution. From the very beginning we have been working towards a particularly sustainable solution which we will realize with the control system developed by TGW and an intelligent energy management system. In addition, we will support the online expert with a service package after the commissioning of the new facility in order to keep the system permanently up to date."

Online trade is driver

"One of the most important drivers for the company is online trade," explains Georg Kirchmayr. "We have dealt intensively with the topic of e-commerce, conducted studies and work together with universities. We know what we are doing and can therefore enable our customers to find optimal solutions for their future. We know the business and market trends and can design the ideal solution with precise planning and intensive collaboration with our customers."
