With the takeover of 53 AWI service stations, the Doppler Group in Wels has increased its network of service stations to over 250, making it the number one discount service station in Austria.135 service stations are currently operated by the Doppler Group under the Turmöl brand and 65 under the BP brand. Yesterday, Tuesday, June 24, 2014, the Doppler Group signed the assignment agreement for 100% shares of AWI Mineralölgroßhandel GmbH, which entered insolvency.

Doppler will fund the approved redevelopment plan. The transaction on the acquisition of the shares is subject to the approval of the Austrian antitrust authority, as well as the confirmation of the reorganization plan by the insolvency court. With this acquisition, a total of 53 service stations in the Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland and Upper Austria areas will be taken over, which were previously operated mainly as service stations. The AWI service station group has a market share of approx. 1.3% in the Austrian market. Dr. Bernd Zierhut, Managing Director of the Doppler Group in Wels, comments: "These 53 service stations are an ideal addition to our existing service station network and strengthen our core regions of Vienna and Lower Austria. This acquisition also means a changing of the guard in the domestic service station market - the Doppler Group is the new number 1 in the service station business in eastern Austria and, after integration into the Turmöl service station network, the new number 1 among Austrian discount service stations."
Company owner Franz Joseph Doppler: "In order to be able to run the acquired AWI service station network profitably, a far-reaching restructuring of the entire service station network is required. From today's point of view, some stations will be closed, the rest of the network will be integrated into the existing Doppler network as refueling stations or manned stations. Detailed figures and information will follow."
The retrofit measures are to be completed by mid-2016, the company announced. Overall, the number of Turmöl service stations is expected to increase from the current 135 to 173, making Turmöl the market leader in the discount segment of the Austrian service station market. Since the takeover of the Turmöl brand in 2002, this brand has been turned into a modern, attractive Austrian discount brand. The tower oil filling station network is characterized besides "tankable prices" above all by 24h purchase in the Spar-Express, there are in the network 10 post office partners, and 80 Hermes parcel stations, modern car washes and numerous Dopgas warehouses. Managing Director Daniela Dieringer: "We are looking forward to this great challenge. In total, we will plan around 15 previous AWI service stations as well as Dopgas storage facilities, which will additionally increase cylinder gas sales."

About the Doppler Group
The DOPPLER Group is an owner-managed company and the largest independent and private mobile service station operator in Austria. In 1932 DOPPLER Mineralöle was founded in Wels by Franz Doppler. At that time, the company was mainly active in the wholesale of mineral oils, and from 1945 onwards it built up its own network of service stations.
In the course of history, there have been brand partnerships with the ARAL, SHELL, ESSO and BP brands. The introduction of the Aral brand in Austria in the 1950s was through the DOPPLER network. It is also worth mentioning that the BP Harmony look was introduced in Austria in 2001 by the DOPPLER stations. In 2003 DOPPLER bought the company Turmöl Mineralölprodukte Großhandelsges.mbH and started to expand the Turmöl service station network. Today Turmöl is the house brand of the company DOPPLER and at the same time the largest, private, Austrian gas station discount network.
At present, DOPPLER's service station network comprises around 200 service stations operating under the Turmöl, Turmöl Quick and BP brands.
In 2013, the DOPPLER Group acquired the liquefied petroleum gas business of BP Austria and incorporated this business into the existing division under the new DOPGAS brand. The task for the next few years is to transform the existing company into a modern energy company and thus to be available as an energy supplier in Austria in the long term.
